The
most common cylinder sizes are 100 and 150 pounds; other sizes are
available. |
 |
Cylinders
should be fitted with a 240 valve and a short bent dip tube positioned
so the bend is opposite the valve opening. |
 |
For
Vapor Withdrawal: The cylinder must be positioned
vertically or on its side with the valve opening face down. |
 |
For
Liquid Withdrawal: The cylinder must be positioned on
its side with the valve opening face up. |
 |
All
ammonia cylinders must be authorized for ammonia use by the Department
Of Transportation (DOT). |
 |
Cylinders
must be fastened to a support or nestled closely together to prevent
them from falling over and becoming hydrostatically charged. |
 |
Special
care must be taken not to overfill cylinders because they are not
equipped with a safety relief valve. |
